Our Last-Minute Disney Cruise Adventure Begins! [Ep.992]
Our Last-Minute Disney Cruise Adventure Begins!
We’re back at Walt Disney World for the beginning of a spontaneous Disney Cruise Line adventure!
We’re recording from Disney’s Pop Century Resort after booking a last-minute sailing aboard the Disney Wish. We reserved a guaranteed Navigator’s Verandah, but Disney surprised us with an upgrade to a category 4A stateroom on Deck 11. We’ll be conveniently located near the pool deck, Festival of Foods, Funnel Vision, and—most importantly—the soft-serve ice cream!
We also have some exciting personal news to share: Dawn has officially retired from teaching! That means we’ll have more flexibility, more opportunities to travel during the off-season, and hopefully many more Disney adventures ahead.
Before beginning our trip, we helped care for Poppins—better known as Poppy—a tiny rescued kitten our daughter adopted. We fell in love with her immediately and share how we helped her eat, gain weight, and become a little more independent.
We also talk about our early-morning Breeze Airways flight, our first experience using Mears Connect, and our lunch at Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort. We had considered visiting the parks, but the intense Florida heat, storms, travel fatigue, and cost of park-hopper tickets persuaded us to enjoy a quiet afternoon at Pop Century instead.
Finally, we look ahead to our return to the Disney Wish, our first time taking Disney transportation to Port Canaveral, and our early plans for the next Resort Loop group cruise!
In this episode, we discuss:
- Booking our Disney cruise only days before sailing
- How our guaranteed Disney Cruise Line stateroom worked
- Our unexpected upgrade from category 7A to category 4A
- Why we always book a cabin category we’ll be happy to receive
- Dawn’s retirement and our future travel plans
- Caring for an adorable rescued kitten named Poppy
- Flying Breeze Airways to Orlando
- Why we recommend arriving early for a Breeze flight
- Using Mears Connect for the first time
- Our lunch at Primo Piatto
- Why we decided to skip the parks during the extreme summer heat
- Our return to the Disney Wish
- Our early plans for the next Resort Loop group cruise

Here is Poppi (Poppins) were were talking about during the show!

Speaker A
Please stand clear of the doors, por favor.
Speaker A
Man.
Speaker A
Tengan se allijado de las cuertas.
Speaker A
We're now on the final leg of our journey over the highway.
Speaker A
In the sky just ahead, you can see the beautiful Cinderella Castle with its spires rising nearly 200ft high.
Speaker A
Hey, everybody, thanks for joining us.
Speaker A
This is Tim Scott, joined by is lovely wife Dawn.
Speaker A
We're going to have a great show here.
Speaker A
If it sounds a little echoey.
Speaker A
Because it sounds a little echoey here to me in the room.
Speaker B
It only sounds echoey to you.
Speaker A
No, no, I. I know echoey.
Speaker A
I know we're in a room.
Speaker A
There's no carpet on the floor.
Speaker A
There's one bed folded in the wall.
Speaker A
There's one bed laying down and a small bathroom.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker A
What else do I see?
Speaker A
I see a cooler and a little resort coffee mug with maybe some Joffrey singles cups in there.
Speaker B
Well, all I'm saying, I see some giant flowers outside Marwindow.
Speaker A
Giant flowers.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker A
Inspired by the 60s.
Speaker B
There you go.
Speaker A
Tell them where we're at.
Speaker B
Pop Century.
Speaker A
We're here on a very last second trip for us.
Speaker B
Not as last second as we have done in the past, but fairly last second.
Speaker A
We do have a track record.
Speaker A
We do, but this one involves a Disney cruise.
Speaker B
Yay.
Speaker A
That we booked for us very last minute.
Speaker A
It was like 1212 days.
Speaker B
4 12.
Speaker B
But they had guaranteed rooms out.
Speaker B
It was a great price.
Speaker B
We just.
Speaker A
I happened to be off.
Speaker B
We couldn't pass it up.
Speaker A
You're off.
Speaker B
I'm off.
Speaker B
Permanently.
Speaker A
Do we mention that you've recently just actually retired from your teaching career?
Speaker B
I did.
Speaker B
I'm super excited.
Speaker B
I don't remember if we mentioned that the last time or not.
Speaker B
So, yes, I am now retired.
Speaker B
Now we can travel in the off season.
Speaker B
We can travel whenever we want.
Speaker A
Great.
Speaker B
That's exciting.
Speaker A
A lifestyle vacation to deal with.
Speaker A
But.
Speaker B
But you can take your vacation pretty much whenever you want.
Speaker A
I can.
Speaker B
Not bad.
Speaker A
And again, another tangent.
Speaker A
She's wearing a shirt today.
Speaker A
It says.
Speaker A
What does it say?
Speaker A
Hello.
Speaker A
Retirement.
Speaker B
No, it says teacher off duty.
Speaker A
This one says the teacher off duty shirt.
Speaker A
You've had more compliments on that shirt.
Speaker B
Have.
Speaker B
And we'll talk about some fun fact that happened to us at lunch today.
Speaker A
Please do, because this never happens to me.
Speaker B
We'll keep everything on a good timeline, though.
Speaker B
Get to that.
Speaker A
Okay.
Speaker A
We'll talk when we get there.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
So we're down here for a cruise that leaves on the Disney Wish, which is what we did our very first group cruise on.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
So I'm very excited to get back on the ship.
Speaker B
I'm super excited to be back on the Wish.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
So we have a guaranteed room.
Speaker B
So what does that mean?
Speaker B
What's a guaranteed room?
Speaker A
We had a guaranteed room for a navigator's veranda, which means what's the guaranteed room?
Speaker A
I'm, I'm gonna send.
Speaker B
I'm sorry, I'm interrupting.
Speaker B
I'm just excited.
Speaker A
Which means we're guaranteed at least that category, which was a 7A.
Speaker A
And this was 12 days ago.
Speaker A
So the next day, actually that night, I think we started looking at navigator verandas.
Speaker A
I think maybe before we booked it or right after we booked it, I don't remember.
Speaker B
I think it was right after because we had heard the Navigator verandas on the Wish class ships were pretty good, so we just went for it.
Speaker A
So we had to hold it.
Speaker A
We had to hold.
Speaker A
And since we were in the window, we had till midnight to the side.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker A
So that's when we, I think we started looking real quick.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker B
We watched some videos on Navigator Mirandas and they looked fine.
Speaker A
They look totally fine on the Wish.
Speaker A
Like on some of the other ships they're a little more, we'll say the view is blocked, a little more restricted.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker B
But the Wish, not bad at all.
Speaker A
No, no, no.
Speaker B
So we thought good enough.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
Saving some money here by doing guarantee.
Speaker B
We'll just, you know, hope for the best.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
And, and so the next day I go into the reservation to look just to make sure everything's good.
Speaker A
I actually looked twice.
Speaker A
I look once very early in the morning.
Speaker A
Everything was good.
Speaker A
I checked on it later that day and there was this number at the top that I had no idea what it was because I'd never seen it on one of our reservations because it was five digit, five digits long.
Speaker B
We've never had a five digit, We've never.
Speaker A
I thought it was a code that we'd been rejected.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
Something like ultra restricted.
Speaker A
We had to move you somewhere.
Speaker A
I didn't know what it meant.
Speaker A
I looked at it again.
Speaker A
I'm like, oh my gosh, that's the room number.
Speaker A
I just had to whip out the plans because I had no idea where this room was.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
It's on the 11th deck.
Speaker A
It is right on the same level as the Festival of Foods on the Wish.
Speaker B
And coincidentally, closest room you can get to, to the ice cream station.
Speaker B
You look, just stay in.
Speaker A
That's right.
Speaker A
If you look on the deck plans and you look for the room closest to where the ice cream is, that's us.
Speaker B
That's us.
Speaker B
And what category is it?
Speaker A
That's a 4A.
Speaker B
It's a 4A.
Speaker B
We got upgraded three cabin categories.
Speaker B
Doesn't always happen.
Speaker B
No, no, no.
Speaker B
The last time we did a guarantee, we got what we booked.
Speaker B
And this is fine.
Speaker B
Absolutely fine.
Speaker A
Always book what you're happy with.
Speaker B
Absolutely.
Speaker B
If you're booking an inside hoping for a veranda, don't do that.
Speaker B
You might be disappointed.
Speaker B
We booked what we thought we could live with and we were pleasantly surprised.
Speaker B
So we're super excited.
Speaker B
It seems to be in a great location.
Speaker B
The reviews of the room seem really great.
Speaker A
It's still the starboard side, which is our favorite side.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
And there's only a few cabins in that part of the hallway when you turn right coming out of the elevators.
Speaker B
So we heard it's a very quiet location, which I'm a terrible, terrible sleeper.
Speaker B
So it will be very, very nice.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker A
And actually have friends.
Speaker A
I have booked on this cruise later this year, but it's on the Destiny and they booked that cabin.
Speaker A
And I told him when he booked that one, if there was one category I wanted to stay or one room I wanted to stay on the Wish class ships, that would be the area I wanted to try it.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
It's on the pool deck.
Speaker A
Close to funnel vision.
Speaker B
Oh, yeah, we love funnel vision, especially ice cream.
Speaker A
It's close to barbecue.
Speaker A
Yeah, I heard it's quiet.
Speaker A
It's forward, which we do better with.
Speaker A
Forward.
Speaker A
We found out.
Speaker B
Yes, I do.
Speaker A
So.
Speaker B
So lots of people are motion sick.
Speaker B
More forward.
Speaker B
I'm not.
Speaker B
I seem to be less.
Speaker B
And it doesn't.
Speaker B
I sometimes get affected after the cruise with some vertigo, dizziness when I sail forward.
Speaker B
That doesn't seem to be a problem.
Speaker A
Well, let's note because also this is on the 11th deck.
Speaker A
We've never sailed on that high up on.
Speaker B
No, we've not.
Speaker B
So that'll be top.
Speaker B
Something different for us as well.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker A
We'll see how that goes.
Speaker A
Because we've always usually been, well, a five on the Dream class ships.
Speaker A
Deck five is our deck with the extended verandas.
Speaker B
Yep.
Speaker A
And on the Wish, we've done deck with the six.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker A
We did actually the same cabin on both.
Speaker B
We did.
Speaker B
We did the same cabin on the Wish and the Treasure.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker B
Same cabin number.
Speaker B
So because we liked it.
Speaker B
It was great.
Speaker A
It was.
Speaker A
It was fine.
Speaker A
Great location.
Speaker B
Yep.
Speaker B
But we had a little caveat to the whole.
Speaker B
Oh, no.
Speaker B
Can we really make this happen?
Speaker B
Because our daughter had a friend who found a newborn kitten that had been abandoned by its mother.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
And so for the last four weeks, this wonderful girl has nurtured this cat and bottle fed her.
Speaker B
And, you know, she wasn't sure she was going to make it, but took her to the vet this past week, the cat is doing remarkably well.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker B
So our daughter, who's getting ready to move back closer to us, which we're super happy about, asked, could we please keep the kitten until she moves, which is at the end of July.
Speaker B
We said yes because we had no plans, but then we had plans, so it all worked out.
Speaker B
But she asked us to please pick up this kitten from this girl when the kitten was four weeks old and a day.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
So we picked her up.
Speaker B
Oh, my goodness.
Speaker B
We have never been so in love with such a tiny little creature.
Speaker B
I just have never seen a kitten that tiny.
Speaker A
Me either.
Speaker A
I was, I was shocked.
Speaker A
It was that little.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
She was about fit on my hand.
Speaker B
Yeah, she was 7 ounces when we got her Thursday night because they said you should, you know, make sure that you weigh them to make sure they're gaining.
Speaker B
And we did do a lot of research.
Speaker B
The girl who had her since birth gave us just great, great information.
Speaker B
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker B
So she was still being bottle fed and but she was trying to starting to transition to like some pate with the kitten, milk replacement milk mixed in with it.
Speaker B
And so I'm just like, oh, no, I got him.
Speaker B
Like, how are we going to keep this little thing alive?
Speaker B
And so.
Speaker A
But we did, like they say in Jurassic park, one of my favorite lines, life finds a way.
Speaker B
Exactly.
Speaker B
So we got her all settled, fixed up.
Speaker B
So we had her for the last three days.
Speaker B
Our daughter named her Poppins after Mary Poppins.
Speaker B
Of course.
Speaker B
We knew it was going to be a Disney name somehow.
Speaker A
Well, we didn't know, but mixed tools.
Speaker B
Oh, I knew it was going to be a Disney name because the names I was throwing out were not Disney names.
Speaker B
And she was like, I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker B
But her name is Poppins.
Speaker B
But they're calling her Poppy.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
And oh my goodness, she is just adorable.
Speaker B
Maybe throw a picture up there.
Speaker A
Oh, we'll put a show in the show notes@resortlift.com.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
So, but anyway, we did a good job taking care of her.
Speaker B
When we handed her off today before we left, she was 8 ounces.
Speaker B
8.1 Ounces.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
So she had gained a whole ounce in that time.
Speaker B
7.1 To 8.1 from Thursday night, Thursday night to Sunday morning.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker A
So the girl's doing a good job yes.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker B
Well, we did a good job.
Speaker A
Well, we did, too.
Speaker B
So I'm.
Speaker B
I know Mackenzie will do a great job.
Speaker A
Oh, absolutely.
Speaker A
I was talking about herself doing a good job.
Speaker B
Oh, I'm sorry.
Speaker B
Yeah, Poppy did a great job.
Speaker B
She's.
Speaker B
And honestly, she started eating the food really, really well.
Speaker B
She's not on a bottle anymore and she's eating the food great.
Speaker B
She has really not really had any accidents outside the litter box, like one or two, but that's it.
Speaker B
And they've been in her container, not, you know, on the floor or anything.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker B
We miss our Poppy.
Speaker B
But we'll see her soon when we're going to take her back so our daughter can get her stuff together to move.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker B
Anyway, so that brings us to last night, the 4th of July.
Speaker A
4Th of July.
Speaker B
Happy birthday, America.
Speaker A
Happy birthday, America.
Speaker A
And our daughter.
Speaker B
Yes, especially our daughter.
Speaker A
I salute to all birthdays, but mostly our daughter.
Speaker B
Exactly.
Speaker B
She usually goes away for her birthday to her fiance's family in Indiana.
Speaker B
But this year she said she was coming home.
Speaker B
So we were super excited to have her home and celebrate with her.
Speaker B
We had my family over to swim and have a little cookout and everything.
Speaker B
And there's a country club not far from our house that does a really nice fireworks show that we can see from our back deck or in our pool.
Speaker B
And so that's where we watched fireworks last night.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
We're not members.
Speaker A
Don't let it loop.
Speaker B
No, we are not members.
Speaker B
We just enjoy the amenity of the fireworks, that's all.
Speaker B
So then we told everybody the festivities were over at 10 o' clock and kicked them all out when the fireworks were over and got everybody settled and.
Speaker A
Went to bed because we had to get up at 4am yes, we did.
Speaker A
After a short night and a very busy day.
Speaker A
We were busy all day yesterday getting things right.
Speaker B
Oh, my goodness.
Speaker B
We were between packing and getting the.
Speaker B
I don't like to.
Speaker B
First of all, my family's not coming over and friends aren't coming over unless my house is clean anyway.
Speaker B
But I don't like to go on vacation unless my house is clean because I don't want to come home to a dirty house.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker B
So all that stuff had been going on for a couple days.
Speaker B
Plus the kitten really shout out to Mackenzie's friend.
Speaker B
I'm telling you, I don't know how she did it.
Speaker B
That kitten, even though she was starting to be independent, really takes up a lot of time.
Speaker A
She needs a lot of attention.
Speaker B
Yes, she.
Speaker B
She certainly didn't.
Speaker B
She let you know it Yep.
Speaker B
So but got up at 4am Poppy was up with us at 4am wanting to be held, wanting some attention, got her some fresh food and she went to town eating some fresh food.
Speaker B
And we finished up our last minute.
Speaker A
Packing and then last minute pocket packing.
Speaker B
Unfortunately found out that our bag was well over the 50 pound limit because we were trying to get away with just one bag.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
So the luggage, the luggage redistribution started.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
So that made for some very, very heavy personal items because what airline are we flying?
Speaker B
Our favorite?
Speaker A
Breeze.
Speaker B
Breeze.
Speaker B
Shout out to Breeze.
Speaker A
We love Breeze again.
Speaker A
Another great Breeze flight.
Speaker B
It was, but made it to the airport, got checked in.
Speaker B
You parked the car?
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker B
We met at tsa.
Speaker B
Got through TSA with little problems.
Speaker A
Do you want to see our van?
Speaker A
Go to the Akin Canton Airport in spot number 15.
Speaker B
There you go.
Speaker B
There we are.
Speaker A
It's there.
Speaker A
Hopefully it's there.
Speaker B
I'm telling you.
Speaker B
My biggest tip is if, if you fly breeze, don't be late, don't even be on time.
Speaker B
You have to be early.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
According to the app that had our boarding passes, boarding was supposed to start at 6:30 and end at 6:45.
Speaker B
Boarding started at 6:20 and it was done at 6:40 and we were pulling out of that gate at like 6:50.
Speaker B
And the flight wasn't even supposed to go till 7:00'.
Speaker B
Clock.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker B
Don't be on time for Breeze.
Speaker B
You need to be early.
Speaker A
And that line going into the plane just keeps moving.
Speaker A
It's not like something.
Speaker A
No, like they kind of stop while they just keep moving.
Speaker B
Oh yeah.
Speaker B
I'm telling you, it was great.
Speaker B
Super great.
Speaker B
Flight attendants, very informative pilot.
Speaker B
Kept us informed.
Speaker B
You know, I slept quite a bit of the way.
Speaker B
I was tired.
Speaker B
I don't know if you slept, but.
Speaker A
I think I do.
Speaker B
You have a good shoulder.
Speaker A
So I do.
Speaker A
I don't want to brag so it's not that muscular.
Speaker A
So it's really good to lay on.
Speaker B
So we got in what, like 25 minutes early?
Speaker B
Yeah, something like that.
Speaker B
Then I was concerned, what if we don't have a gate?
Speaker B
We don't have our wing walkers available.
Speaker B
But that was not the case this time.
Speaker B
Pulled right up out the door.
Speaker A
Can't the way they all was great.
Speaker B
No.
Speaker B
And so then how do we get to pop century?
Speaker B
What did we do?
Speaker B
It's another first for us.
Speaker A
We're trying to do a lot of first this trips.
Speaker A
We are.
Speaker A
Since we book for people, we.
Speaker A
I think it's important that we do all the different things.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
Well, we love our friends At Orlando Magical, Right?
Speaker B
Absolutely.
Speaker A
And if you had a.
Speaker A
Well do them again, I have no doubt about that.
Speaker A
But for this for sure, I wanted to try something different.
Speaker A
It was.
Speaker A
And it's even a little bit cheaper.
Speaker A
Although you pay for a little bit more, let's say quicker service, more direct.
Speaker B
Service with Orlando Music Magical.
Speaker A
Absolutely.
Speaker B
Oh, for sure.
Speaker B
Absolutely.
Speaker B
And they'll even do a grocery stop and things like that.
Speaker B
We can't say enough great things about them.
Speaker B
But also because it was a last minute trip.
Speaker B
This was a Scott family budget friendly trip.
Speaker A
That's true.
Speaker A
Because we didn't have this budgeted.
Speaker B
No, we absolutely did not.
Speaker A
So we did Mirrors Connect for our first time.
Speaker B
We did.
Speaker A
And for us it was basically seamless.
Speaker B
I thought it was great.
Speaker B
I think possibly we just hit it at the right exact time.
Speaker A
Oh, I'm sure we did.
Speaker A
But it didn't help that the Mirrors Connect bus stop was right below our luggage carousel for Breeze.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
Which was luggage carousel 20.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
We went right down the first down escalator and it was right there.
Speaker B
Right?
Speaker B
Absolutely.
Speaker B
Just to your extra to your right.
Speaker A
And they weren't terribly busy because there, you know, several, what you call kiosks there where you could scan your QR code to board.
Speaker A
But there were two people just sitting there.
Speaker A
We just walked up and they said, what's your name?
Speaker A
Told them the name.
Speaker A
They said walk down to the end and this, whatever the aisle was.
Speaker B
Yeah, there's like three letters.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker B
So but we found it.
Speaker B
I mean it was right there.
Speaker A
Right there.
Speaker B
Yep.
Speaker A
We were the first ones in the line.
Speaker A
We got to the line, waited me a whole five seconds.
Speaker B
I'm not even sure it was that long.
Speaker A
Ready to.
Speaker A
Lady told us which bus to get on.
Speaker A
We went right into the bus.
Speaker A
The bus pulled out.
Speaker B
There was already several people on the bus, but there was plenty of seats.
Speaker B
We were in terminal B.
Speaker B
We did make a stop at terminal C to pick up another family that got on, but it was just one family.
Speaker B
The driver can't say enough good things about him.
Speaker B
He kept everybody informed, said what the next stop was going to be.
Speaker B
He was loading and unloading that luggage like a champ.
Speaker A
Yeah, he was doing a great job.
Speaker B
He did a fantastic job.
Speaker B
You can get direct service from Mirrors at times to go directly to your resort.
Speaker B
That is definitely more expensive.
Speaker A
It is.
Speaker B
So we just went the you stop at a couple different resorts.
Speaker A
We wanted to see how it goes.
Speaker B
We did.
Speaker B
I think they do stop at the Gaylord Palms, but I don't think there anybody was there on that bus they put us on.
Speaker B
So our first stop was Beach Club.
Speaker B
Beach Club.
Speaker A
Then Revere.
Speaker A
Huh.
Speaker A
And then Caribbean Beach.
Speaker B
Yep.
Speaker A
And then Pop.
Speaker A
And I think it was going to Art of Animation.
Speaker A
It was going.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
There were a few families going to Art of Animation.
Speaker B
So we got off at Pop And I'm telling you we were off the bus very, very quickly.
Speaker B
Our luggage was already sitting there.
Speaker B
I'm telling you, that driver gets off and he's jing Zing Zing gets the beat.
Speaker B
He does.
Speaker B
So shout out to M. Connect.
Speaker B
If you're looking for a budget friendly way to get to your resort.
Speaker B
100% Check them out.
Speaker A
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker B
100%.
Speaker A
So we, and we checked in here at the resort.
Speaker A
We had to have them hold the bag for us because our room wasn't quite ready.
Speaker B
Which is fine because we were here like what, 11 o'?
Speaker A
Clock?
Speaker A
Oh, what's that?
Speaker A
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker B
10:30, Something like that.
Speaker B
It was early.
Speaker B
I think it might have been 10:30.
Speaker B
It was earlier.
Speaker A
So we figured we'd go get some lunch.
Speaker A
We were on our way.
Speaker A
We decided to try and yeah.
Speaker B
We.
Speaker B
This is a thing of first.
Speaker B
Try something new.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
So we went to the quick service restaurant that I can't pronounce at Riviera.
Speaker A
Oh yeah.
Speaker B
Prima piato.
Speaker A
I think that's it.
Speaker B
Is it?
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker A
I always say prima note and that's something on the Disney cruise ships.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker B
So I had the croque monsieur which is a ham and Swiss sandwich.
Speaker B
Very tasty.
Speaker B
I. I'm just not a Disney burger and hot dog and chicken strip fan.
Speaker B
I just can't eat them anymore.
Speaker B
I think we've eaten so many in my lifetime, I just can't eat them anymore.
Speaker B
So needed something different.
Speaker B
It also comes with a side.
Speaker B
I opted for some fresh fruit.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
So the problem with that quick service place is it is tiny.
Speaker B
First.
Speaker A
It's beautiful.
Speaker A
It's well themed to resort gorgeous.
Speaker A
And we're.
Speaker A
We were there eating.
Speaker A
Well, this was maybe we were there for early lunch.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
But there wasn't a place to sit.
Speaker A
We were there for a while.
Speaker A
We gave our put in our order and they're like, well, you can just kind of stand over here.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker A
Or get a table and we'll bring it to you.
Speaker B
There were no tables to be found.
Speaker B
There were no tables and I'm not a good person.
Speaker B
I mean here I am at Disney and not a good crowd person.
Speaker B
I don't mind standing in line.
Speaker B
That doesn't kind of bother me.
Speaker B
But when there's just people kind of not sure.
Speaker B
What they're doing, where they're going, looking for places to sit.
Speaker B
It just weirds me out.
Speaker B
I got to get out of there.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker A
And it's really hot here.
Speaker A
We weren't planning a park visit at all.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
This summer, or maybe even any summer, for the most part.
Speaker B
Never again.
Speaker A
We're gonna stick to, I think, flower and garden and foods and wine for sure, but.
Speaker B
So we went outside to sit on a hot, stinky bench.
Speaker B
But it's beautiful there.
Speaker B
But it was just in the sun.
Speaker A
It was semi.
Speaker A
Well, you moved to a shady spot.
Speaker B
I did eventually move when someone else.
Speaker A
Cleared out, but there was a breeze that helped a little bit.
Speaker A
And then I waited inside for.
Speaker A
It was quite a long.
Speaker B
It was a long time.
Speaker B
I think it's just they.
Speaker B
And they needed a bigger kitchen, a bigger eating area there.
Speaker B
I don't know.
Speaker B
But then you text and said, hey, the food's here.
Speaker B
You know, I have a table if you want to come in and eat.
Speaker A
Yeah, I just.
Speaker B
We decided to get our food to go because there just was no tables.
Speaker B
But then you actually found one.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker B
I was not feeling well.
Speaker B
Like, I needed to have a few bites of something before we decided to come back here.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker A
Because we didn't eat anything at all since 4:00am Right.
Speaker A
A little something.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
Maybe 5:00am yeah.
Speaker B
But not a lot.
Speaker B
So I just ate a couple bites of my sandwich, which I already said was delicious.
Speaker B
And you said, hey, those women over there are wearing Mount Union T shirts, which is where I went to college.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker B
So I'm like, we're.
Speaker B
I had my two little bites.
Speaker B
We packed everything up.
Speaker B
We're coming back to the room.
Speaker B
So I just leaned over and I went, go Purple Raiders.
Speaker B
And I kind of looked at him like, I think maybe I know these people, but I'm not sure.
Speaker B
And they're like, yeah, you went to Mount Union.
Speaker B
And so I told her, yes, I did and everything.
Speaker B
And of course, my son and mom and grandpa went to Mount Union as well.
Speaker B
And so I thought.
Speaker B
I'm like, I'm pretty sure they were in my same sorority, but they were a little bit older than I was, so they graduated before I got there.
Speaker B
But we had some reunions and whatnot.
Speaker B
So I'm like, I think I know them.
Speaker B
I'm like, we had a sorority.
Speaker B
And they're like, yeah, we were tried out.
Speaker B
So, like, I knew it.
Speaker B
I said, I was a tried out.
Speaker B
So shout out to the two tried out sisters that I met.
Speaker A
There you go.
Speaker B
So weird.
Speaker B
So random.
Speaker B
But it was great.
Speaker B
To see them.
Speaker B
They graduated a year before I came.
Speaker B
So actually.
Speaker B
Actually technically two years before I got there.
Speaker B
They graduated in 85.
Speaker B
I didn't graduate from high school till 86, so.
Speaker B
Um.
Speaker B
But one of my best friends from college, Lori, knew both of these women.
Speaker B
And so I'm like.
Speaker B
I knew.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker B
So that was great.
Speaker A
That's gonna happen.
Speaker A
Anybody, it's gonna happen to you.
Speaker B
I do run into a lot of people in weird places that I know or have a connection to or something, so.
Speaker B
But that was a great little spot of sunshine.
Speaker B
I love that.
Speaker A
That's awesome.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker B
So we brought our stuff back here.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker A
And I had the.
Speaker A
It was a three cheese panini with prosciutto on it.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
It was excellent.
Speaker A
It was very good.
Speaker A
You know what I probably could have used.
Speaker A
And maybe their offer was there and I didn't put it together because we.
Speaker A
I really didn't look at the menu that long because we just want to get our food and go with like a little side of marinara sauce or something with.
Speaker A
That would have been really.
Speaker B
Oh yeah, that really would have been good.
Speaker A
I can't complain.
Speaker A
The sandwich is great.
Speaker A
So.
Speaker B
Yes, my sandwich was great.
Speaker A
And I got the fruit also because I just.
Speaker A
I think I needed something with liquid in it.
Speaker A
We had.
Speaker A
I talk when we start a trip.
Speaker A
I travel out dehydrated.
Speaker A
I don't want to have.
Speaker A
Have any issues on a plane.
Speaker B
I agree.
Speaker A
I don't have to try to find one of those bathrooms there and even know how.
Speaker A
I don't even know if that would work.
Speaker B
I think it would be fine.
Speaker A
I don't know.
Speaker A
I'm not.
Speaker A
I'm not that confident.
Speaker B
So anyway, came back here, we ate.
Speaker A
And it took the longest nap ever.
Speaker B
We did.
Speaker B
We slept for like two and a half hours from this everything this week and not sleeping and having a short night.
Speaker A
But this being July 5th, we thought maybe on this trip we would consider.
Speaker A
And it was still kind of on the table until we realized exactly how hot it was.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
To see the new Soarin and some of the final shows of Carousel Progress.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker B
We really, really wanted to do that.
Speaker A
But that didn't happen.
Speaker B
It's a lot of money because we'd had to buy a one day park hopper.
Speaker A
Right, Right.
Speaker B
So that's a lot of money right there.
Speaker B
And then like it's 96 degrees out right now with a heat index of 108.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
And dawn does not do well in the heat.
Speaker A
And storms rolled through here with lightning.
Speaker A
A Skyliner was shut down.
Speaker A
So yeah.
Speaker A
I'm not sure how that might affect the parks or the comfort level in the parks, but we all know when it's steamy in Florida and it rains.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker A
The humidity shoots up and it's even more uncomfortable.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker B
I think we made a good choice.
Speaker B
I'm sad to not see the last because like when the last time we saw it, we didn't know that was the last time we were going to see it.
Speaker B
That's how it always happened.
Speaker B
That was last.
Speaker B
Last November.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker B
But anyway, like we said though, it's.
Speaker A
Always online somewhere to watch.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
I'm sure there's thousands of versions on.
Speaker B
I'm sure.
Speaker A
And I'm hoping the soaring thing will probably play for at least a year.
Speaker B
I hope so.
Speaker B
I would love to see it.
Speaker B
So I'm glad we made the decision because I think being tired and hot would not have been a good combo for our relationship today.
Speaker B
We are much more pleasant with each other today.
Speaker A
Well, I know when I'm starting to get kind of hot that you're.
Speaker A
You're boiling.
Speaker A
So.
Speaker B
Yes, yes, I am.
Speaker B
And it just does not go well for me.
Speaker A
So I think had we been able to get a table right away at lunch maybe and sat down and had the food deliverables and cool down while we're eating and rehydrate.
Speaker A
Yeah, we would have a little bit better.
Speaker B
Yeah, we would have.
Speaker B
But that's okay.
Speaker B
I'm hoping maybe to get a little pool time in love the Pop Century pools.
Speaker A
And we'll see.
Speaker A
It's still kind of.
Speaker B
It is still kind of gray and cloudy and little rainy and yeah, wet.
Speaker B
Not really rainy, but it's.
Speaker A
I walk over to the window, I'm going to see if the pool is even open and nope, there's nobody in the pools yet either.
Speaker B
But.
Speaker A
Huh.
Speaker B
There must still be lightning in the area.
Speaker B
Well, we're just going to hang out here and we have a Disney plus account and you can use that on their TVs here.
Speaker B
So maybe we'll try to find a movie and we'll just stay here and stay here.
Speaker A
Have some dinner.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
Nothing too crazy because the crazy food will begin.
Speaker B
I know.
Speaker B
Oh, I can't wait.
Speaker B
So stay tuned.
Speaker B
I'm sure we'll have several shows out on our adventures on the beautiful Disney.
Speaker A
Wish on our way flying down.
Speaker A
By the way, we flew over the Daytona International Speedway and I could see the Cracker Barrel where you heard the issue I had from there.
Speaker B
So we will not be going back to the Cracker Barrel.
Speaker A
I gave them a Little nasty eye as we were flying over that area and little glare there said, see you suckers.
Speaker B
Side eye heading for some good tasty food.
Speaker B
It's not going to make us sick.
Speaker A
Right.
Speaker A
So I have a feeling the next time you hear from us, we'll be on the wish.
Speaker B
I think so.
Speaker A
This will be exciting.
Speaker B
I can't wait.
Speaker B
And another first for the Scott family.
Speaker B
We're taking Disney transportation to the port.
Speaker B
We've never done that before.
Speaker A
I'm excited about that, too.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker B
Usually we have our car.
Speaker B
Usually we drive.
Speaker B
We have our car.
Speaker A
Or Orlando Magical rides.
Speaker A
Oh, our third car.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker A
Well, you know, love Omar, he was, as a driver, one of the lovely drivers there.
Speaker B
Yeah, we were great drivers there.
Speaker B
So.
Speaker B
So we'll see how that goes.
Speaker B
So we're interested to see that and see the beautiful wish.
Speaker A
Oh, one thing I want to mention.
Speaker A
Pamir's bus, by the way, had Disney Cruise line material on the seats.
Speaker B
It did.
Speaker A
So I don't know if that was an old.
Speaker B
I bet it was a flight transfer bus, I thought.
Speaker B
I don't know.
Speaker B
It's in great shape, though.
Speaker B
There weren't any rips.
Speaker B
Tears.
Speaker B
I thought the bus was pretty clean.
Speaker A
It was working well.
Speaker A
Yeah.
Speaker B
So it was great.
Speaker A
We'll see how things go tomorrow.
Speaker A
We will.
Speaker A
Let's wrap this up.
Speaker B
All right.
Speaker B
Because I'm getting a little hungry again.
Speaker A
Oh, there we go, everybody.
Speaker A
I'm Tim Scott again joined by his lovely wife, Don.
Speaker A
You can find pictures of all this.
Speaker A
We'll put it on the website resortloop.com, everybody.
Speaker A
Oh, by the way, if you'd like to join us down here for a trip.
Speaker A
Oh, I want to mention this real quick.
Speaker A
This.
Speaker A
I'll put a post out about this later.
Speaker A
Also, save the time frame for the next resort loop group cruise.
Speaker B
Yay.
Speaker A
We're looking like it's going to be the second half of October.
Speaker B
September.
Speaker A
September 2nd.
Speaker A
The second half of September before October.
Speaker B
Right.
Speaker A
Those haven't been released yet.
Speaker A
Unless you're like in Alaska or somewhere.
Speaker A
But it's not any of the Florida port shed or any of the main areas but we would want to sail out of.
Speaker A
So save the time frame.
Speaker A
Keep that in mind.
Speaker A
I wouldn't be surprised if with our luck, they announced the cruise.
Speaker A
While we're on this cruise, you can't really communicate with much of anybody.
Speaker B
But we are going to do a group cruise next year.
Speaker A
Yes.
Speaker B
Super excited.
Speaker A
So that.
Speaker A
Just keep that in mind.
Speaker A
We hope everybody will join us because,.
Speaker B
Yeah, we have so much fun.
Speaker B
We have a great time.
Speaker A
We'll have to see what the itineraries are.
Speaker A
We can't decide if we want to do something newer going forward or maybe the.
Speaker A
He'll step back at some of the other ships.
Speaker A
I, I, I'm.
Speaker A
I'll be honest.
Speaker A
I'm missing my.
Speaker A
Missing my dream in fantasy right now.
Speaker B
I am, too.
Speaker B
I love the Wish class ships.
Speaker B
They're just gorgeous ships.
Speaker B
But I.
Speaker B
My heart belongs to the dream.
Speaker A
Really, the dream.
Speaker A
I'm a fantasy guy.
Speaker A
I know, but I, I could suffer.
Speaker A
I'm doing air quotes here on the dream.
Speaker A
If I had to.
Speaker B
If you had to.
Speaker B
Okay, sounds good.
Speaker B
So we'll let you know as soon as we.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker A
Yep.
Speaker A
So, once again, I'm Tim Scott.
Speaker B
His lovely wife dawn, everybody.
Speaker A
You've been listening to the Gateway to the Magic.
Speaker B
See you, everybody.
